Jazz Inspiration Records is proud to announce the release of John Labelle's second compact disc, "Don’t Say No." With 11 brand new original compositions and featuring some of Canada's finest jazz musicians performing in a dynamically charged big band setting. "Don't Say No" is a sure fire hit. With arrangements by New Yorker Bob Parsons, "Don't Say No" showcases John Labelle at his best, blending the old with the new and coming through loud and clear with what can only be described as a voice that says "Watch out! Here I am!" Each track sounds like an instant standard. This recording is a definite first in Canadian Jazz. This is the first time that a Canadian jazz singer has ever recorded an original big band album. The listener will hear no scatting, no vocal fireworks, and no novelties. What they will hear is GREAT SINGING by a singer at the peak of his form. John Labelle borrows from great vocalists. Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennet, Mel Torme, and yes, Harry Connick Jr. But Labelle creates his own style and what comes through is an emotionally charges and always exciting result. "Don’t Say No" should leave no doubt in anyone's mind that John Labelle is one of the finest Jazz singers.

Singer/songwriter John Labelle’s sensual crooning has captured many jazz lovers’ attention on his JAZZ INSPIRATION debut If you See Her ... His vibrant and soulful renditions of such classics as Honeysuckle Rose, It had to be you and Our love is here to Stay, have led to comparisons with Frank Sinatra and a young Mel Torme.

In his early teens, Labelle started listening to Big Bands and he soon discovered the magic of Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Nat King Cole and Tony Bennet, who have greatly influenced his singing style today.

Although Labelle claims he never dreamed of singing professionally, he pursued his love of jazz by working at the famous Biddle's Jazz Club in Montreal. The turning point was one Christmas Eve at the Club, when pianist Norman Zubis lured Labelle onto stage to sing as a practical joke. The audience’s enthusiastic response to his rendition of A Foggy Day in London cemented Labelle’s desire to sing professionally.

Labelle quickly established a reputation as a talented vocalist on the Montreal Jazz scene. He is a regular on the club and his reputation has spread nationally. Labelle has worked with renowned jazz musicians Skip Bey, Johnny Scott, Geoff Lapp, Glen Bradley and Renee Lee. He is also star fronting vocalist for the Montreal Jazz Big Band and still finds time to continue his studies in piano and composition.
