| "The music is wide- ranging, sometimes sparked by intricate intensity, sometimes quietly glowing with harmonies that make joyful sense to the heart. These musicians are a remarkably empathetic threesome." |

Pianist Jean-Francois Groulx won the Prix de Jazz du Maurier at the Festival International de Jazz de
Montreal in 1995, providing him with instant visibility. His strong sense of melody comes from playing
pop music, working in Latin bands, recording, accompanying and touring throughout Europe with
Canadian artists Michel Donato, Micheal Cusson, Lorraine Desmarais, Yannick Rieu, Alain Caron,
Adalberto Sandiago and Monica Passos. Groulx, 33, didn't start to study piano until the age of 20, partly
because he was busy playing guitar, bass and drums. He studied piano at Vanier College with Arts Robert
and studied arranging with Al Bbaculis. He spent a year in Concordia’s jazz program before finding work
in Quebec’s music industry as a musical director, composer and arranger for the Festival Franco-Ontarian.
Groulx also represents Quebec in the United States as an ambassador for Quebec Tourism.
